I know there’s lots of them online but I want to see it before buying it, does anyone know a store that sells them in Los Angeles? I don’t like the ones with a stand, I want something I can hang on my trees outside. I saw them at target but I don’t like the kind they have I want something more like a Mexican style ones.

live anywhere in the world…. where would it be and what would you do ?

i would live in the suburbish areas of France right on the coast. I would have 6 dogs and hammocks in trees everywhere so i could read with no intense interruptions.. I would own my own private part of the beach and just lay there and listen to the waves… i would also own my own photography studio and dance studio. my neighbor would live like a mile away….. so i could blast music with my windows open at 4 in the morning if i’d like…. =]

how about you?

A cartoon was once published in which a man was shown going to sleep in a hammock suspended two relatively small trees. A second frame of the cartoon showed the man awakening 20 years later and finding his hammock 15 ft off the ground. Criticize this drawing in terms of what you know about plant growth.

Hang a hammock with one tree?

January 25th, 2010 1 comment

I only have one tree to hang my hammock. I have a stand, but it has a lot of bars under it, and now that it is so stretched out, I always hit the bars when I sit in it. I want to hang it on trees, but I only have one tree that is strong enough to hang it on. I wanted to know what to do to the other end-what can I attach it to?

What do you think of my hammock camping poem?

My hammock’s in the storm
The eye is just offshore
But I’m keeping warm
A category four!
The wind rips up the trees
Except of course for mine
Inside the tarp no breeze
Nor water from the line
Oh, ocean swell, winds from hell
Eighty miles an hour!
Seabirds die and cattle fly
I swing inside my bower

(Try singing it to the tune of "Jingle Bells.")

How do I make a part of the background picture in Photoshop transparent?

November 29th, 2009 1 comment

In Photoshop class, we’re trying to take a picture of a landscape and crop ourselves into it. I have a beach scene with a hammock spread between to palm trees. I’m trying to put myself in the hammock, but I can’t make it look like I’m inside of the hammock. Can I possibly make the hammock somewhat transparent? Or is there an easier way?

Would it be appropriate to ask two of your contacts to stand there and hold up the hammock for you?

Can I bury a few feet of two 4×4’s in the ground and hang my hammock on it instead of getting or building a big hammock stand? We just moved and have no good trees for the hammock.

How deep should I build foundations to hold a two person hammock?

October 6th, 2009 2 comments

I don’t have any trees in my back yard but want to have a hammock hanging. I am planning to insert two wooden poles vertically about 12 feet apart and suspend the hammock from these. I also plan to make them removable (i.e. have the concrete foundation with a circular metal tube through the middle in which the wooden poles can be inserted). How deep and wide should I pour the concrete?
