Is this baby name too "out there"?

January 8th, 2012 15 comments

Thinking of naming my baby girl Irieanna (eye-ree-Anna). My husband and I were married in Jamaica and one day while we were taking a romantic walk on the beach, we stopped and took a seat on a hammock. We started talking about the future and we agreed that the name Irie (a saying in Jamaica) would be a really cool name and that if we ever had a girl, that’s what we would name her.
Plus my mothers middle name is Irene…so it is sentiment in so many ways. I added the "anna" to try to make it sound a bit less…idk..hippie freak lol…But do you think it’s too "out there" lol. Thank you for your answers!
Haha..noooo I’m not from the getto..hahaha…but thanks for the insight

Looking for nice beach music?

July 29th, 2011 2 comments

I’m heading to Costa Rica in a few weeks and I want to put together a couple hours worth of good beach/tropical kind of music. I’m talking things like steel guitar/drums, instrumentals, maybe some spanish type stuff. Basically anything that comes to mind when you imagine sitting in a hammock on the beach. Similar to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0xoMhCT-7A (Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole – "What A Wonderful World")
Any particular artists to look at for this? I’m not familiar with international music at all.

3 guys r in love with me wat do i do??!?!?!?!?

i threw a party yesterday and invited my whole school. it was fun the party was amazing (its wasn’t a lame party it was like stuff u see in movies with no limit to the expenses!) i got tired from dancing and relaxed on one of the silk hammocks out side of the party looking out at the beach. (this isn’t my house or any house its a place to have parties at) then three of my friends came out: Justin, Oliver, and Mark. we have all been friends for 4 years now but here’s how it went: they all came out of the party and Oliver said "Victoria, we all need to talk to u about something." i sat up "okay, go ahead." oliver looked down and blushed. i knew something was wrong at that moment. they were all staring at each other expecting one of them to speak up. Justin finally looked me straight in the eye and said "we r all in love with u." i didn’t know wat to say so i just said quietly "oh…really?" now that i think about it i do like them but not love. so which one should i choose?
Justin: he has black hair, black eyes, hes tall and is asian. hes pretty serious and mature.
Oliver: brown hair, green eyes, and hes as short as me which is pretty short. hes crazy and will do any dare.
Mark: blonde hair, blue eyes, and hes taller than Oliver but shorter than Justin. hes perverted but he can be sweet at times and loves to pull pranks on other ppl.
which one would u choose i just want another persons opinion. thx :)

I hate how my friend treats her baby?

February 8th, 2011 14 comments

I use the term "friend" loosely, because this girl frustrates me more than anything, and I feel like I have to help her in some way so she doesn’t self destruct.

I met her through a mutual friend while she was 20 weeks pregnant with her son. Now he’s two months old, and I can’t stand how she treats him.

First of all, I had a party for St. Patrick’s Day at my house. I had my mom watch my 9 month old, because of course there was going to be drinking. I invited her and her husband, but I didn’t think they would actually bring their two month old! So they brought him, proceeded to get drunk, and basically passed him off to me (and I had way more to drink than they did). So I fed him, burped him, and put him in my son’s crib, before telling my husband that I was about to go pass out, and had him take over.

Since then, we have been over to their house one time, which was about a week ago. We were there for about 5 hours, and she held her son for MAYBE 5 minutes the entire time. Every time he would act hungry (and I swear to god, she has the most well behaved baby, she has no idea how easy she has it) she would get all bitchy and start pushing her husband to go take care of it.

And then they would argue back and forth for a few monutes until I was just like "Okay! Where’s his formula? I’ll do it." So long story short, I ended up taking care of him all night while I was at their house. She got off her laptop for like 5 minutes.

She’s just so freaking lazy and complains all the time and I just want to chew her out, and tell her "look, Princess, you’re a MOM. It’s about your baby, and not you being on your stupid laptop all damn day." I have nothing against young moms, becuase I am one. However, she’s 18 and I was 20 when mine was born.

I also hate how she sticks her finger on his chin and like forces his mouth to move, pretending to make him talk. He hates it! He stayed in his hammock like 90% of the night when I wasn’t holding him or feeding him.

Anyway…what the heck do I do about this?! She’s having her birthday party in two weeks, and she already told me that she’s not getting a sitter. So her baby is going to around a bunch of drunks. I’m thinking about going, just so I can WATCH him. I’d rather leave my son with my mom for one night so I can take care of her kid. she obviously didn’t learn from MY party. I also offered to babysit for her and not even go to her party. Am I doing the right thing, or should I just NOT do anything anymore?
Perhaps I should have said "Went to bed" instead of passed out. Is that better? At least I have enough common sense to have a sitter for the ONE party I decided to have with my friends. Especially because I am of legal age to drink and she is not? Also, neither of us is breastfeeding. My son will be 10 months soon, I don’t know what her excuse was. Oh yeah "the dog chewed up my breast pump, and nursing hurt my nipples." BOOHOO.

…kick the chair, just leave me hanging there, just gasping for air?

yeah, dont mind me three feet from the ceiling

name that song!!!

*the lyrics may seem kind emo, but its totally up tempo.

first right answer gets 10 points!!!
edit:
*forget about the "just" in the "just gasping for air" that was an accident.
i already know the song…its just a quiz. sheesh. and its not an emo band, its just using the metaphor in ONE song about how there is no point in this guy even living when he is with his girlfriend.

i know that sounds emo, but it isnt really an emo song at all. litsen to a sample on itunes or something……if you know who sings it

Kroger Hammock Bed Replacement?

September 15th, 2010 1 comment

Last year I bought my mom a hammock from Kroger. A few weeks ago, she left it out in the rain, and when she went to sit on it, it broke. Since her next birthday is just around the corner, I’d like to get her a replacement hammock bed. I can’t seem to find JUST the hammock itself, and NOT the stand. The hammock is a quilted hammock with fringe. The brand is Aldercrest Collections and HD Designs. The hammock bed is about 74" long. I got it at Kroger, and that’s the only place I’ve been able to find similar hammocks, but I cannot locate just the hammock bed without the stand. Please help!!

When someone says "I want her in the worst way"…..?

What do you think the "worst" way would be?
I think it would have to be standing up in a hammock.
yeah…I know what it means…what do YOU think the worst way would be?

hanging over hungry crocs….that’s good!

What is the horizontal distance of the endpoints of a catenary given endpoint & midpoint height & cable length?

June 28th, 2010 1 comment

The cable length is approximately 170 inches or 432 cm.
The endpoint (both ends) is approx 72" or 183 cm.
The midpoint is about 20" or 51 cm.
What does the horizontal distance between the endpoints need to be?

Why? I am making a stand for a transverse hammock (the transverse hammock is the "cable".) I have tried to figure it out, but the answers I calculated make no sense.

what is the song played on the latest episode of the real world-cancun?

What's you most embarasing moment?

February 15th, 2010 1 comment

Mine was today, when I was blind folded and I was on my hammock (with my sister and cousin) and I was pretending to be an airplane and was all like " oh no the pilot died, don’t worry kids I’ll save you. oh no kids we crashed into the ocean. SWIM!!!!" . And then my sister took of my blind fold and my gardener was standing right in front of me laughing!!!!
The crappest part is the the fact that I was even making airplane noises and waving my arms about screaming.
So yeah that’s my story, what’s yours?

Does it mean anything if you heard a song in your dream?

December 3rd, 2009 13 comments

Well, I had this dream I was sitting on a hammock by the beach. There was this old fashioned radio on the sand next to me. It kept playing the same song over an over again. I have never heard that song before, only in the dream. I found out it was the song "Clocks" by Coldplay.

Does this mean anything?

How do I fix the air pump on a computer chair?

October 12th, 2009 2 comments

On my computer chair, like everyone else’s, it has this lever which you pull up or down to make the seat of the chair go up or down. A few weeks ago, my brother snapped the lever off by ripping the plastic rings that it was attached to apart, and now the chair is stuck in the "down" position, as low as it can go. Is there any way to get the mechanism for raising the chair working again for just a few minutes so I can get the chair back to a good height? It’s a weird question, and I’m sure the only people with answers will be someone who has had the same exact problem before, but it’s worth a shot . :P

Portable air beds. Thumbs up or down?

September 15th, 2009 2 comments

I noticed these 20" air beds in twin, full and queen sizes, priced to 0 yesterday. Are they any good? What do they feel like? Do you wake up at 3am in a hammock? Good for many nights or just one or two?
