i just got a female rat from a local petstore (she and her litter mates were much healthier looking than petco and petsmart rats) i know they need a friend but my mom hardly allowed me to get one. i have had her for 3-4 days and she will let me hold her, she has groomed my finger, and she fell asleep next to me last night…but when i go to the cage she does not come to me, i have to reach in and gently grab her to get her out, the only food she will eat directly from me is yogurt on a spoon, but she wont take anything else from me. she also is very energetic outside the cage, sniffing everything and climbing around, but when i put here inside, she hardly moves, she will climb up to her hammock, or go inside her house, but other than that she hardly moves, and if she is walking somewhere, will sometimes randomly stand still for a bit….is she just new and nervous?? and if i can hold her without objection, why wont she come to me or take food???? sorry for rambling on but i am just a bit confused… 8-]
useful answers only please. and yes, i am sure rats find all humans weird lookin. 8-]
thanks, i have watched those videos, and did follow the first few steps…but what if she wont take food from you, and doesnt get at all excited when she sees food??? and she doesnt act scared when i hold her, she sniffs around and climbs my hands….

okey, so i have asked this question twice already, and just really want a wide variety of answers. On vacation in August, my bf and i went to the beach. (we were on vacation with his parents and mine who are best friends) he is 17 and i am 16. well, we got into a hammock, and before we knew it we were having sex right there….discreetly, i was on the bottom he was on the top. well my stepmom came looking for us and she found us..she realized what we were doing. she marched us back to the hotel, and there, she and my bf mom yelled at us for what seemed like forever. then my stepmom took me to her hotel room and spanked me. She said that if i was going to act like a child then i would be punished like one…which i totally do not understand cause what child would be doing that? she was super mad, and now she doesn’t trust me like she used to. I mean we were really close, we still are, but not the same as before. she grounded me for weeks and my dad agreed with everything.
we got caught up in the moment and didnt use protection..that made her even madder.

I use the term "friend" loosely, because this girl frustrates me more than anything, and I feel like I have to help her in some way so she doesn’t self destruct.

I met her through a mutual friend while she was 20 weeks pregnant with her son. Now he’s two months old, and I can’t stand how she treats him.

First of all, I had a party for St. Patrick’s Day at my house. I had my mom watch my 9 month old, because of course there was going to be drinking. I invited her and her husband, but I didn’t think they would actually bring their two month old! So they brought him, proceeded to get drunk, and basically passed him off to me (and I had way more to drink than they did). So I fed him, burped him, and put him in my son’s crib, before telling my husband that I was about to go pass out, and had him take over.

Since then, we have been over to their house one time, which was about a week ago. We were there for about 5 hours, and she held her son for MAYBE 5 minutes the entire time. Every time he would act hungry (and I swear to god, she has the most well behaved baby, she has no idea how easy she has it) she would get all bitchy and start pushing her husband to go take care of it.

And then they would argue back and forth for a few monutes until I was just like "Okay! Where’s his formula? I’ll do it." So long story short, I ended up taking care of him all night while I was at their house. She got off her laptop for like 5 minutes.

She’s just so freaking lazy and complains all the time and I just want to chew her out, and tell her "look, Princess, you’re a MOM. It’s about your baby, and not you being on your stupid laptop all damn day." I have nothing against young moms, becuase I am one. However, she’s 18 and I was 20 when mine was born.

I also hate how she sticks her finger on his chin and like forces his mouth to move, pretending to make him talk. He hates it! He stayed in his hammock like 90% of the night when I wasn’t holding him or feeding him.

Anyway…what the heck do I do about this?! She’s having her birthday party in two weeks, and she already told me that she’s not getting a sitter. So her baby is going to around a bunch of drunks. I’m thinking about going, just so I can WATCH him. I’d rather leave my son with my mom for one night so I can take care of her kid. she obviously didn’t learn from MY party. I also offered to babysit for her and not even go to her party. Am I doing the right thing, or should I just NOT do anything anymore?
Perhaps I should have said "Went to bed" instead of passed out. Is that better? At least I have enough common sense to have a sitter for the ONE party I decided to have with my friends. Especially because I am of legal age to drink and she is not? Also, neither of us is breastfeeding. My son will be 10 months soon, I don’t know what her excuse was. Oh yeah "the dog chewed up my breast pump, and nursing hurt my nipples." BOOHOO.

so about 2 years ago my parents bought this really cool mural for me at pbteen. it covers up my entire wall its of a hammock at the beach. it didnt look as good as online and i dont really like it, it looks weird. i told my parents i loved it tho cause they worked really hard to put it up and it was 300$. i want to take it down now and put up a full length mirror and pictures because that will look better. but they probably wont let me since it was so expincive and its not been up very long. i mentioned taking it down
once and my mom freaked she was like absolutly not that thing has not gotten its 300$ worth yet. so how can i convinve my parents to take it down and get a full length mirror for me?

For the past week or so my son has been having full meltdowns in the evening time. We pick him up from the babysitter and he seems to be okay. He’s okay on the ride home in the car and usually falls asleep. Then we get in the house and all hell breaks loose when he wakes up. He’s whining and squirming and straightening/tightening his muscles and trying to stand up. We change him and feed him and about 10-15 minutes after eating he’s whining and starting the whole process over again.

We try everything we can think of to occupy him … putting him in the swing and turning on cartoons, walking him through the house (which works for a little bit), letting him play on his play mat with the objects hanging from above, talking to him, reading to him, etc. Sometimes those things will keep his attention and other days he could care less about them. It really seems the only thing that calms him down is a bottle. When it’s time for him to eat he’s fine … but throws a tantrum after the bottle is gone or if we remove it from his mouth to burp him.

I think last night was the worst in all the nights that he’s started this new trend. He has started screaming to the top of his lungs in this high pitch tone. As I posted yesterday, he has also started to have a total meltdown at bath time. He has been taking a bath in his little tub (in the net/hammock looking thing) for at least two months, and everything was going just fine. Then he flips out last week and just breaks out into a cryfest as soon as I put him in the water.

What I have noticed is he seems to be very sleepy when he gets home. He rubs his eyes and when I give him the pacifier, his eyes get low and he closes then … and opens them up again … then closes them … and opens them up again. But what I don’t understand is why he’s so tired during this time all of the sudden. I do know he’s staying up longer during the day. My mom has kept him for the past month and he started going to a home daycare this week. Also, he is ALWAYS biting his fists now … or trying to bite on my shoulder … you think he’s teething?

He almost drove me insane yesterday. Any suggestions or ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated.
