How to build a pergola for a hammock?

I would like to build a pergola for hanging a hammock in the back yard. Can anybody tell me if 15ft is correct on how far apart the posts/beams should be to hang the hammock? It seems really wide to me.

Go on a ‘hammock’ supplier web site, no doubt they have recommendations.

Let’s start by figuring out the length of the hammock
6 foot for the usable area of the hammock
2-1/2 to 3 foot on each end for attachment
So right now you have 11-12 feet across
so if you put the posts 10 foot apart,
you will lie on the hammock like a slice of melon, by the time it stretches out
Go to a hammock store to help figure the needed area for the posts/hammock
You might find it easier to buy a hammock stand and place it in your pergola
