I have a mayan/mexican hammock (without a spreader bar). Can I hang this from a classic stand like this, for example?http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00637088000P?keyword=hammock+stand
or this

Thank you so much!

You should be able too. The first one says it holds hammocks up to 14 feet in length so check the length. That would the only potential problem I would see. If you hammock is too short you can just tie ropes on the end. If you are in Mexico or going to mexico they sell special ropes just for this purpose. You can get them at any hardware store.

If your hammock is too long then I don’t think this stand would work.

It should work fine, the generic stands are designed to work with pretty much any hammock so I don’t think a spreader bar would make any difference. The only thing I would worry about would be the length of the hammock, What I would do is get a piece of string the length of your hammock, then take the string and a friend along to sears and measure the hammock against the stand, using the string will help to give you an idea of how low the hammock will be when it’s on the stand
I find the best height would be somewhere around your thigh.
